Well for all the jokes about can you walk talk and chew bubble gum, I discovered that I could not walk and talk very well at 10,000 feet when climbing out to explorer some of the grounds in the passes.  I am amazed at the idea that men took ox carts over these 150 years ago.  Some of those roads were fun enough in a car.  I can not imagine walking over them.  Just how hardy those pioneers were continues to amaze me.
